“In Her Image” Project – November 2009
Wiccans and Pagans actively acknowledge that we share this planet with all living things, and that interconnection is what drives ecosystems to provide for all beings, great and small. However, on the spiritual realm this is also true. The fusion of my spirit with that which I surround myself with is of great importance, because my spiritual self is influenced and nourished by the energy of all the spirit energy around me. We give forth our energy and receive energy all the same.
In previous posts, I have been pondering transformation. Transformation is the complete change from one form to another. Transformation is powerful but rare. However, there are other ways for humans to deal with change. So, this month I have been thinking about fusion, the bonding of one form to another. Now, there are a lot of ways to bond with something. A couple in love bonds with each other. A child bonds with its parents. A human and an animal can bond as well. Animals bond with each other too.
When I started to think about the bonds between animals, something really struck a cord with me. Like a lot of other Pagans, I am a huge fan of fantasy and fairytale stories. My favorite stories included these fantastic beasts, like dragons and unicorns. My bedroom was filled with unicorn images as a young girl (I’ll post more about that some day), but as I grew older, the innocence of the unicorn was replaced with the ferocious image of the gryphon (griffin).
You see, the gryphon was the fusion of the strength and cunning of a large breed cat and the agility and stamina of a large bird. These two animals fused their spirits together to created the mighty gryphon, a denizen of the astral plane, which has featured widely in mythological stories for ages.
In honor of the Goddesses, this month’s altar represents the fusion of spirits.

Have you done one for December yet? And thanks for the Eldarberry wine tip. I’ll have to try some!
Hi Chris, No, I haven’t posted my December altar yet, but I will, along with an epilogue of sorts of my final thoughts as this project draws to a close. Then, TA DA! I’ll be announcing my 2010 project! Stay tuned!
